1 | WORKING WITH PLAYGROUND

Testimonials are becoming the best way to help potential customers cross the finish line during the sales process. With over 12 years of experience, Playground Studios has a unique approach that not only creates a captivating video with a powerful story, but also ensures that your video gets RESULTS. It all begins with us understanding your goals and the message you want to communicate to viewers. After going through a few questions with you, we begin preparing a question sheet that will help our interviewees tell a compelling, clear story.

2 | THE QUESTIONS

Our primary aim is to explain how your product/solution made your customer’s life easier and business more profitable. Below is a general question outline of a testimonial. Once we gain an understanding of your goals for the video, we will tailor the questions to your specific business and the relationship it shares with your customer.

WARM UP QUESTIONS
What is your name and position with the company?
To someone who's never heard of company XYZ, how would you explain what you do?
How many employees does your company have? How many different locations?

OUR INTERVIEW PROCESS

Our unique approach to interviewing subjects begins the moment they step through the door. Our first and most important goal is to ensure that the subject is absolutely at ease before shooting begins. The initial few questions we ask are normally softballs to get them warmed up before we get to the meat of the interview. Since we are shooting with 2 cameras, we reassure the subject that stumbling on a word or sentence is not a big deal because we can easily fix any mistakes in editing. This also gives the interviewee the ability to pick up exactly where they left off instead of having to restate an entire answer.

3 | PRODUCTION

Our testimonials are shot with a 2-camera setup, with the subject looking towards an offscreen interviewer. See below for a visual diagram.

NOTES on LOCATION, SET DESIGN, ETC
If it’s possible, knowing the shooting location/room beforehand can help us prepare for what we may need in terms of set design. Ideally, the location would not be a conference room with an immovable table in the center as it impedes our ability to light, decorate and set up the subject freely.
