Attention to Detail
If there's one thing that separates good from great, it's attention to detail. Striving for perfection even though you know it's impossible to get there... that's the mentality that helps you achieve great things.
Most people however, settle for "good enough." When you're working on a project, "good enough" can be a very tempting place to stop. In our first few years of making videos, we stopped there many many times. But eventually, we figured out that "good enough" wasn't gonna get us to where we wanted to go. It wouldn't make us wildly successful or win us any awards. All it was going to do was help us get by.
The interesting thing about attention to detail is that it requires no talent or special skills. All it requires is a little extra time and effort, which everyone is capable of giving. When you're first starting out, it can be okay settle for less than perfect. Your first few projects are most likely not gonna be your best ones, so completing them is a lot more important than perfecting them. But it's important that you don't get stuck in that way of thinking. The further along you get, the higher your standards should become until eventually, anything short of a masterpiece is a disappointment.
You'll find a million reasons to settle for "good enough." But sooner or later you have to learn the valuable lesson that "good enough"... is never good enough.
